Qala State Historic-Ethnographic Reserve was established in the historical part of Gala settlement in 1988. The territory of reserve is 81,5 hectares. 228 architectural an archeological monuments are preserved. The oldest found monument is ancient settlement that dated to III-II millennium B.C. There were 5 mosques, 3 bath-houses, underground water supplies, 4 reservoirs, remains of castle, mausoleum, tombs and dwellings (houses) among the architectural monuments in the territory of Qala village.
Archeological Ethnographic Museum Complex
Archeological Ethnographic Museum Complex was established under the open air in the territory of Gala Reserve by the support and initiative of Heydar Aliyev Foundation. The barrows, archeological monuments dating back to III-II millenniums, settlements dating to the same period, residential and other architectural models dating to the middle age, etc. were constructed in their original form in this territory.
Qala castle
Qala castle was constructed in the oldest part of the village. During the archeological excavations that were carried around this castle in 2009 it proved this castle was established in X-XII centuries . It was restored and reconstructed by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation in 2011. Remains of oven and ceramics, iron tools, holes for tying animals, underground ways (X-XIV cen.), under rock shelter (bronze age) etc. were found during the excavations.
The Museum of Antique Items
The Museum of Antique Items was established in 2011 on the initiative and with the support of Heydar Aliyev Foundation in Qala reserve on the basis of a private collection of Shahid Habibullayev. He was an engineer, restorer and philanthropist disabled of the Garabagh war and honored with Azerbaijan flag order. Only 800 exhibits from this unique collection are shown in this museum.
